How is the ideal density of a substance calculated from
unit cell data?
The ideal density of a general crystalline unit cell is calculated
by the following method:

D is the density expressed in grams per cubic
centimeter (g / cm3), Z is the number of atoms or molecules
per unit cell, FWT is the formula weight of the atoms or molecules
expressed in grams (g), Na is Avogadro's Number = 6.023 x 1023
atoms or molecules, and V is the volume of the unit cell expressed
in cubic centimeters (cm3).
