30% of the yeast cell wall is made up of a material
called glucan. Adjuvax is a glucan molecule that is manufactured in the
yeast cells. The structure is poly-(1-6)-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-3)-B-D-glucopyranose.
This very specific 1-3 and 1-6 linkage activates a cascade of immunologic
response that promotes a higher titre of serum antibodies. Hence this is
used as an useful tool for vaccines and drug delivery vehicles.
