| The image above shows budscars
present on a single yeast cell. The budscar tissue is composed of
chitins, mannons and glucans. Chitin is extremely strong and flexible.
As a result, medical sutinas are made of chitin. They are biodegradable.
Is there a limit on the number of bud scars present on a single yeast cell? More information can be found in Wonderful World of Yeast module on this site. This image was taken using a atomic force microscope (AFM). |
