| This image shows the formation
of budscar on yeast cells which is a unique characteristic. The scan
tissue is left on the surface of the parent yeast cell after the budding
phenomena occurs and one cell is divided into two.
Notice the asymetric bud scar tissue on the surface of the yeast cell. Why is this budscar material different from the rest of the cell surface? More information can be found in Wonderful World of Yeast module on this site. This image was taken using a atomic
